I believe that the Presley listed above may be this same Presley BOLEY:

1. Presley BOLEY, b. 1804 in VA. This Pressley Boley first married Alice ALVICE [or Alvis] sometime in the late 1830's and they had three or four children. He then married Elizabeth Hodges January 25, 1846 in Wilson Co.Tn. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Duncan and she had first married Bluford Hodges September 21, 1845 in Wilson Co. Tn. Her first marriage was performed by James J. Trott who was a Methodist missionary working with Indians in the area. We have no idea as to what happened between September 21, 1845 and January 25, 1846.

• 2. Martha Ann BOLEY, b. 1840, TN. Martha Ann Boley was the oldest daughter of this Pressley Boley. She was born in about 1840 according to the later census records. She married James W. SEALS April 12, 1871 in Cannon Co. Tn. The 1910 Cannon Co. census indicates that seven of their eight children were still living at that time. Martha SEALS died March 27, 1914.
• 2. Mary Elizabeth BOLEY, b. 1842, TN. Mary Elizabeth Boley was this Pressley's next child. She was born in about 1842 and married John R. SIMS in about 1866 but no record of the marriage has been found. John R. SIMS died September 26, 1882 in Dyer Co. TN. She apparently remarried somebody by the name of LINDSEY since she and other members of her family [but not her second husband] appear in the 1900 McLennan Co. Texas census We know of six children in the Sims family.
• 2. Solena Francis BOLEY, b. 1843 or 1844, TN. Solena Francis Boley is believed to be the next oldest child of this Pressley Boley. She was born in 1843 or 1844 and married Newton J. LENNING December 28, 1870 in Cannon Co. Tn. This family was in Wilson Co. Tn in 1880 and Hopkins Co. Ky. in 1900. We know this family had at least five children.
• 2. Clay Jarusia BOLEY was the next oldest child of this Pressley Boley. She was born in 1845 or 1846 [we do not know if she was a daughter of Pressley's first or second wife] and married William FERRELL January 1, 1874 in Cannon Co. Tn. This family had three children before the parents died of typhoid fever in 1883.
• 2. Zachariah Taylor BOLEY. Pressley and Elizabeth's next child was Zachariah Taylor Boley born in about 1849. He married Amanda COOPER May 29, 1880 in Cannon Co. Tn. This family had at least three children and were living in Webster Co. Ky. [near Hopkins Co. Ky.] in 1889, 1890, and 1891.
• 2. William H. BOLEY married Elizabeth FERRELL July 10, 1870 in Warren Co. Tn. We know of six children in the William H. Boley family. According to the 1860 census, another Mary was the next oldest child of this family. This Mary has not been otherwise identified but Betsy Mills believes this is one and the same person as the William H. Boley [born in about 1851] that appears with this family in the 1870 census [but not in 1860].

According to Issac Presley Boley (Seal), all the children were given to other families at the death of his mother. Isaac Presley and Harriet were given to a SEAL family. Ike (my g-grandfather) took the SEAL name, but Harriet refused to take the name because the SEALs were "mean." We have never been able to figure out what happened to the other children, nor have we ever been able to determine who the SEAL family was that took them.

• 2. John BOLEY, born in about 1853, was the next oldest child of Pressley and Elizabeth Boley according to the 1860 census.. This John Boley may have been the John "Bailey" that married Mary ROLAND December 20, 1886 in Warren Co. Tn.
• 2. Harriet BOLEY was the next child of Pressley and Elizabeth Boley. This Harriet was my wife's grandmother. This Harriet Boley was born in 1855 and married Robert Johnson ADAMS December 13, 1877 in Cannon Co. Tn. Harriet died 1 Sep 1919 in Cannon Co., TN. She and Robert Adams are both buried in the Preston Cemetery near Short Mountain, in Cannon Co., TN. There were six children in this family:

• 2. Anjaline BOLEY was the youngest child of This Pressley and Elizabeth Boley listed in the 1860 census. She was born in about 1857 but has not been identified in any other records and nothing more is known about her.

I believe Pressley Boley [1803/4-1888] and Elizabeth Mildred Boley were brother and sister. This Elizabeth Boley married Elijah Wright September 12, 1826 in Campbell Co. Va. and I believe this is the Elijah Boley [11001-01001] that appears in the 1830 Bedford Co. Va. census. Another Elijah Boley [220010001-00233] appears in the 1830 Fauquier Co. Va. census.

Elijah and Elizabeth Wright [001011-220001] appear in the 1840 Smith Co. Tn. census a few doors from Pressley Boley [00001-10001] and they both appear in the 1850 Smith Co. Tn. census. I also have a copy of a letter obtained from a descendant of Elijah Boley that indicates Elizabeth Mildred and Pressley Boley were two of six children in the Elijah Boley family. I have additional info on the family of Elijah and Elizabeth Wright. These factors make me think that this Pressley and Elizabeth were brother and sister.
