I wanted to show you the size of the Mormon Dobbs family since I thinkyour Sophia was a daughter
of Mormon and Sarah. In the 1840 census of Gwinnett Co., GA, Mormon wa50-60, Sarah was 40-50, they had a daughter 20-30, one 15-20, and one10-15. They had a son 15-20, one 5-10, and one 5 or under. I believethey were in Cherokee County in the late 1840's and most of the 1850'sbefore moving on to Kingston in Bartow County. Juliann was born ca.1820-22 Silas was born ca. 1823 and married Nancy Fountain in 1846 inCherokee County. Julius M. Dobbs m. Elizabeth Jane Jones in CherokeeCounty, GA in 1857 and may have been a son of Mormon and Sarah. Sophia m.William Fountain in 1849 in Cherokee County Dr. C. Dobbs was 25 years oldin 1860 in Kingston, GA and was single. Since he
lived near Mormon, he may have been his son and that son who was 5 orunder in 1840. Since this is not my direct line, my research on thisfamily has not been intense, but as a professional genealogist, thiswill, in my opinion, give you a basis for further research. I will tryto give you marriage book
numbers and census numbers at a later time.

I know that you are searching for the parents of Sophia C. Dobbs whomarried William S. Fountain.
I have been a Dobbs researcher for 37 years and would like to share mythoughts on Sophia with you. Mormon Dobbs married Sarah Cape in FranklinCo., GA on December 25, 1814. He was later in Gwinnett County, GA in1820, Hall County in 1830, back in Gwinnett in 1840, nowhere to be foundin 1850, and in
Kingston in Bartow Co., GA in 1860 at age 70. He is listed only as M.Dobbs with wife, S. Dobbs.
Next door to Mormon in 1860 is Silas Dobbs who married Nancy S. Fountainin Cherokee County. Mormon probably died in the 1860's and Silas andNancy moved to Colbert Co., AL where they can be found in 1870 and 1880.I believe Silas was the son of Mormon. But I also believe Sophia was adaughter of Mormon and Sarah as well as Juliann Dobbs who was born in GAca. 1822. Juliann married
Sanford Vandiver in Cherokee County and because his parents moved toMontgomery County, AR
in 1852, so did Sanford and Juliann. Sanford's uncle, Dr. John R. Bates(brother to Sanford's
mother) performed the ceremony for Sanford and Juliann. Dr. Bates wifewas Mary Ann Dobbs
who was also from Franklin County and I believe her father, BurrellDobbs, and Mormon were
first cousins. Later Dr. Bates and Mary Ann move to Montgomery Co., ARas well. They were my
grt. grt. Grandparents. Now, to summarize my theory, I believe that SilasDobbs, Juliann Dobbs, and Sophia Dobbs were among the children of Mormonand Sarah Cape Dobbs. One strong clue for the Vandivers is that they hada son named Enoch Mormon Vandiver. I see that you say that William M.Fountain was called "Momie" and I strongly suspect that it was short forMormon. I would like to get your response to this.Regards,
