William married Emmarine Haydon on 22 Nov 1849 in Palmyra, Marion County, Missouri. Emmarine was born on 8 Jun 1827 in Marion County, Missouri. She died on 23 Feb 1883 in Palmyra, Marion County, Missouri.

Joel Johnson Shannon was born Jun.09, 1829 in Palmyra, Marion County,Missouri. After his father died in 1839, Joel is found at home until hismother died in 1861. Joel served in the Civil War in Company H, WellsRegiment, under General McCulloch. He was discharged in April 1865. Hewas detailed as a Blacksmith in Paris,Texas. *According to the Civil War Regimental Information System Well's TexasCavalry was organized by the consolidation of Well's Texas CavalryBattalion, Good's Texas Cavalry Battalion and Gillett's Texas CavalryBattalion in early 1865. It was soon dismounted. This regiment alsoerroneously claimed to be the 34th Texas Cavalry. It surrendered atGalveston 2 Jun 1865.
On April 02, 1865 he married Frances Etta (Brackeen) Vining, atParis, Texas. Fannie was the daughter of James Madison Brackeen andMyranda (Shelton) Brackeen. Joel and Fannie lived in Atlas, Texas whereall 9 of their children were born. Fannie had 2 children from a previousmarriage to Milton
Vining. Joel died just 3 months before his last son, Jeff, was born.Joel Johnson Shannon died Jan.17, 1886 and is buried at BrackeenCemetery, Atlas, Texas. After his death, Fannie married G. W. Martinand had 1 child. When G. W. died, she married James W. Cook. Fannie diedJun.24, 1918 and is buried as the wife of Joel J. Shannon at BrackeenCemetery.
Joel Johnson Shannon was named after his Great Uncle, Richard MentorJohnson
who was the Vice President of the United States under President Van Buren.

Joel married Frances Etta Brackeen daughter of James Madison Brackeen and Miranda Shelton on 2 Apr 1865 in Paris, Lamar County, Texas. Frances was born on 15 Jan 1846 in Atlas, Lamar County, Texas. She died on 24 Jun 1918 in Paris, Lamar County, Texas. She was buried in Brackeen Cem., Atlas, Texas.

Fannie Brackeen was married 4 times and out lived all four husbands. Shewas married 1st to Milton W. Vining, 2nd to Joel Johnson Shannon, 3rd toG. W. Martin and 4th to James W. Cook. When she died her legal name wasCook but she was buried as a Shannon, beside her 2nd husband, JoelJohnson Shannon at the Brackeen Cemetery, Atlas, Lamar County, Texas. Hermarker reads, Fannie Brackeen, wife of J. J. Shannon. Her obituary isalso in the name of Mrs. Fannie E. Shannon.

The epitaph on the tombstone reads:
"Her happy soul has winged it's way to one pure bright eternal day."

Deed book T2 page 290 recorded at the Lamar County Court House, ParisTexas reflects Fannie as the daughter of James Madison and MyrandaShelton Brackeen and the grand daughter of Jesse Shelton.

Fannie married Milton W. Vining in 1860. Lamar County Marriage RecordsBook 3, p. 261 shows Joel J. Shannon married Fannie E. Vining on 2 Apr1865. See record of Joel J. Shannon.
