THE BULLET THAT FOUND ITS MARK AFTER TWENTY YEARS bee4.gif (6748 bytes)

One of the stories that circulates around here is the tale of Henry Ziegland of Honey Grove, Texas. The story pops up here and there periodically. It was in a Ripley's Believe It or Not publication, and in 1996 a British film crew filmed a segment on the story for one of their series.

The story goes that in 1893 Henry Ziegland jilted his sweetheart, who then committed suicide. Her brother went to take revenge on Ziegland by shooting him. However, the bullet only grazed his head and buried itself in a tree. The brother, who thought he had killed Ziegland, then committed suicide himself. In 1913, Ziegland was cutting down the tree with the bullet in it. He was having a hard time with the job, so used dynamite, and the explosion sent the old bullet through Ziegland's head and killed him.

Is it Truth or Fiction? You can decide.
