OAKWOOD CEMETERY ASSOCIATION

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Ownership of lots

All lots shall be held and used in accordance with the Rules and Regulations now in force or hereafter adopted by the Board of Directors, who are the authorized agents of the City of Honey Grove with authority under the laws of Texas to enforce any measure that can be proved reasonable and for the general good of the Cemetery.

2. Interments

Owners of lots shall not allow interments to be made in their lots for remuneration, nor make any transfer or assignment of any lot or any interest therein without the consent in writing of the Association endorsed upon such transfer or assignment. No fee shall be charged for such consent.

No disinterment shall be allowed except by consent of the Association and upon the written order of the owner or owners of the lot, and in every case only be made by the Cemetery Board.

An order in writing is required of the lot owner whenever a grave is to be opened.

New Construction

No permits for the placing of lot enclosures of any character will be issued. The increasing difficulty of economical maintenance makes it imperative to arrange the surface of the Cemetery in large, unbroken units, that mowing of grass or cutting of weeds may be accomplished at a minimum cost, by the use of machinery. The corners of each lot will be marked by the Association and set flush with the ground that the boundaries may be easily determined.

No monument or other structure shall be placed on any lot until a design of the same with specifications has been submitted to and accepted by and the location thereof on the lot approved by the Association.

Foot markers to graves, where there are markers or monuments at heads of graves, must be set flush with the ground, ledger stones over graves or granite surrounds of graves will not be permitted.

The bases of monuments and head markers must rest solidly upon foundations.

All memorial (monuments or markers) construction must be of granite, marble or bronze.

All workmen employed in stone construction work shall be subject to the control and direction of the manager.

All stone work shall be set on concrete, sufficiently thick to permit grouting, if needed.

Maintenance

No person shall place or leave anything on any lot, street, alley or vacant place within the Cemetery, such as earth, grass, trash, garbage, timber, or other material except by permission of the Manager.

(B) The Association has the right to remove existing sidewalks and curbing that have been uplifted or broken by tree roots, and that impede maintenance of the Cemetery grounds.

Plantings

All removal of trees or shrubs now in place, by owners shall be by permit of the Association.

If any tree, shrub, or plant situated upon any lot shall become unsightly or detrimental to adjacent lots, sidewalks, or avenues, the Association shall have the right to remove such tree or shrub or plant or such part of it as in the opinion of the Association is unsightly.

No plantings other than flowers are permitted. Due to the increasing cost of maintaining the cemetery, plantings such as shrubs and trees impede the maintenance and mowing, and shall not be permitted.

The Association reserves the right to remove from any lot any thing that conflicts with the Rules and Regulations.
