The Tallant Reunion

Thomas Jefferson and Ollie Lula Huggins Tallant had ten children, born in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Chester Vernon died at the age of 21 and is buried in Howard County, Arkansas. The other nine children, three boys and six girls raised families in three states for the most part. Hettie Mae was born in 1904 in Arkansas and died in 1979 in Paris, Texas. Riley Burton was born 1906 in Arkansas and died in 1984 in Howard County, Arkansas. Chester Vernon was born 1909 in Arkansas and died in 1930 in Howard County, Arkansas. Otha Cornelia was born 1913 in Arkansas and died in 1987 in Missouri but lived in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Glyn Ollie was born in 1915 in Oklahoma and died in 1980 in Howard County, Arkansas. Alma Christine was born 1918 in Lamar County, Texas and died in 1998 in Paris, Texas. Nota Aline was born 1921 in Texas and lives in Indiana. Duane Elmore was born 1923 in Texas and died in 1999 in Austin, Texas. Wendell Jefferson was born 1926 in Texas and lives in Paris, Texas. Wanda Lee was born in Arkansas and now lives in Paris, Texas. This picture was made in 1973.

It is these children and their many descendants that make the family reunion so special. There are many cousins of the children that attend and many grandchildren and their families.

The Tallant Family Reunion was a great success. If you were not there we missed you. They came from Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas.

From Missouri was Bob and Millie Smith. They had not been here since 1998. We were so glad to see them.

From Mississippi came Roy and Emma Jane Sulton and their son, Wayne. It was Wayne's first visit.

From Oklahoma came Sam and Helen Samuel. It is always good to see them. They do not miss many reunions.

From Arkansas came Denzell Hale and his son David who had a friend with him. We are always glad to see some of Glyn's family, her daughter, Deretha and her gr-granddaughter Chelsey Knowles came from the Ft. Worth area.

From Texas; Tim and Melissa Grace, Patrick, Elizabeth and Jacob from Waco; from Powderly, Odis and Alma Jean Taylor, Tommy and Katherine Dicken, Larry and Denise Rhea, Kari and her friend, Josiah Daniel; From Blossom, Chester and Martha Tallant, Wesley and Janet Tallant and Michael; from Paris, Kim Tallant, Karen and Kami Bailey, Kevin Tallant and Mary Posey Tallant, Larry Lee, Jr. and Christi Rhea, Earl and Wanda Waters, Wendell and Ella Tallant, their daughter and grandson, Gail and Trent Dorough from Tyler.

I hope every one had a good time, I know I did. I hope I didn't miss anyone, this is the ones that signed in.

The youngest was my gr-granddaughter Kami, four months old. The oldest was Emma Jane Sulton. I guess the longest distance was a toss up between Mississippi and Missouri.

We are so glad you all came and remember we will be here again the first Saturday in June 2004.
