This is the second
page of my
growing collection of treasures. Some are ones that I didn't know
existed until recently, some I had never seen, others I have had
and already considered a cherished keepsake and some are new.
Hope you enjoy
viewing
them as much as I have. Several will open to a new page and
larger
view by clicking on the pictures.

This
picture of of the
Tallant's
was taken in 1945. I was told it was not very long before Papa
died
in a farm accident. |
Here's another of
Duane's mother,
Ollie Lula (Big Mama), taken at her son Burton's home. It is
marked
1947. The last four pictures are treasures from Duane's side of
the
family. |
This
is a picture of Henry and Lucy Alice Taylor Sturgeon. They were married
by a Justice of the Peace in Lamar County, Texas on 23 Nov 1899.
In 1924, they moved to Seymour, Texas, arriving in December from Lamar
County and made their home there. Lucy Alice is my great Aunt. She was
a sister to my grandfather, Alva Lee Taylor. What prompted this
story
happened yesterday, August 4, 2003, when I was volunteering at the
genealogy
library here in Paris, where I found their original marriage
license.
They are listed as W. H. Sturgeon and L. A. Taylor. If any of
their
decendents sees this and wants the marriage license I will get it for
you.
I made myself a copy, but I had rather one of their family had the
original.
You can email me as I would love to hear from some of the family. Mamie
and Nita wrote to me for a while.
UPDATE:
One of their
gr-gr-granddaughter's wrote to me today, July 3, 2004 to let me know
she
would love to have the original marriage license.

Wanda said this
picture was taken
about 1936 on The Crawford Place where her family lived at that time.
Standing
in front is Wanda Lee, about 8 years old. Her brothers standing
behind
her are Duane and Wendell. Thomas Jefferson (Papa), Ollie Lula
(Big
Mama), Alma and William Cornelia (Grandma Willie) Vaughn Huggins are
behind
the boys. Granny is the mother of Big Mama and it is the only
picture
we have of her that I know of. Standing by the post is thought to
be Hettie and Helen Marie. A girl was visiting but don't know her
name. There is a larger version available of this picture, just
click
on the smaller image. It is truly a treasure.

This picture also
belongs to Dorothy
Huggins. We believe it is a picture of Catherine Eda Taylor
Vaughn.
She was the gr-grandmother of the Tallant children and to my knowledge
it is the first time I have seen a picture of her.
She was the
daughter of Reuben and
Mary Taylor and was born in Meriwether County, Georgia. She came
to Arkansas from Georgia after her husband died in the Civil War.
He was William Wesley Vaughn. They had three little girls.
One died in Georgia, but the other two came with her to Arkansas.
Catherine came with
some of her brothers
and sisters to Arkansas after their parents died it seems and settled
around
Pike and Montgomery Counties.
William Cornelia
Vaughn married Noah
Leonard Huggins and Frances Elizabeth Adelia Vaughn married Allen
O'Neal.
On the Arkansas
Federal Census, Catherine
was living with Noah Leonard and William Cornelia from the time they
married.
If you can add
anything or correct
any of this please let me know.

This picture belongs to
Janna Crawford Stehlik. She shared it with me by mail and I had a
copy printed.
The gentleman in the middle is Judge (his name) Thomas Elliot Birdwell
Bailey Galloway Huggins. He was the brother of Noah Leonard
Huggins who is in another picture in Treasurers. Their Father was
James Dekalb Huggins.
On Judge's left is his grandson, Curtis Merlin Huggins, with his
gr-grandson Marlin Kieth Huggins. On his right is his son Ennis
Edgar Huggins.
Judge's mother was Elizabeth Galloway Huggins. Online information
says his
gr-grandmother was Zelphia Bailey Huggins. I don't know where the
Birdwell
and Elliot names came from. Thank you Janna for Sharing. |

Thomas Jefferson Taylor born 25 July 1847 in
Meriwether County, Georgia. Died 13 April 1930 in Mena, Polk

Thomas Jefferson is in the center and the sons are, Benjamin G. (Rubey) Taylor born 14 Nov 1878 in Polk
County, Arkansas. He died 22 September 1905 and had never
married. The other man is Robert Jefferson Taylor, born, 7 January 1875 in
Meriwether County, Georgia. We have no more information on him.
These pictures belong to a granddaughter of Thomas Jefferson and I do not have her name,
she lives in New Mexico. She shared
the pictures with Gwen
C. Salsig and Gwen shared with me. Thank you ladies, I am very proud of them. |
